Teddy Bear Hospital is fully dependant on peoples' willingness to give their time and enthusiasm to make the sessions successful. All sessions are completely free to schools.
The initial funds for Teddy Bear Hospital came from the Leicester Medics revue. The Leicester branch of a charity called MedSIN kindly took us under their umbrella as a subsidiary organisation allowing us to use their charity status and treasury. www.medsin.org
The outgoing costs of teddy bear hospital have so far been very low as we have received a huge amount of support from many people.
If you are a supplier, and would like to help us, we are grateful. As most of our stock is disposable what we need is ever changing. Usually it's only small things, for example, at the moment we really would love:
Small / child sized disposable plastic gloves (for operating in!)
Bravery stickers for teddys who behave well at the doctors.
Dressing up clothes for children to quickly dress up as surgeons / nurses / doctors to care for their teddies.
Certificate printing. (We only use about 1000 A4 sheets per year, if a supplier would like to donate this small amount of printing to us, in return for their name being on the certificate, we would be very appreciative!) If you can help, please contact Salma Ali, sa129@le.ac.uk (Resources co-ordinator).
